About the IDA Database
The IDA database provides an update on the current activities being planned and implemented to control Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) in countries throughout the world. This database includes information on the magnitude and distribution of micronutrient deficiencies and relies heavily on prevalence data from the World Health Organization Micronutrient Deficiency Information System. In addition to a summary of prevalence data, it also provides an overview of those various program elements which aim to prevent and control VAD, including information on:

• National policies and infrastructure
• Description of program activities and outreach
• Specific details of program activities, including:
  • Fortification
  • Supplementation
  • Dietary Modification
  • Monitoring
  • Information, education and communication strategies
  • Funding requests
  • General comments, including program lessons, constraints, etc.
