Progress in Control of Micronutrient Deficiencies

Three databases are presented on this Web site. They offer general information on the prevalence rates of VAD, IDD, and IDA as well as information about country programs to control these deficiencies. The information was compiled by researchers at Tulane University. Most of the information has been provided by UNICEF and is based on survey and program information provided by individual countries. Every attempt was made to make the information as complete and as accurate as possible. However, due to the lack of national surveys or reporting systems in some countries, some fields in the databases remain incomplete.

As part of this effort, the Micronutrient Initiative is in the process of publishing a comprehensive report on the progress in the control of micronutrient deficiencies. It is expected that this report will be available in early 2001. Check Publications for details.
