Africa : Including Vitamin A Supplementation in Nutrition Weeks

The government of Mali , with support from partners including MI , organized two nutrition weeks in 2004 that integrated the provision of vitamin A supplements with services. In addition to providing supplements, MI supported work by Helen Keller International in four regions and in the district of Bamako, with UNICEF and USAID supporting the rest of the country. Coverage in the subsequent week reached some 95% of children and almost 30% of nursing mothers. This was a great achievement in a country with a highly dispersed population.
